It was very irritating how they both kept bickering throughout the whole story. What really bothered me was that he's suppose to be some ruthless pirate in the past and have changed due to something in his past. Yet, he acted like a spiteful mean teenager towards Mimi. As a former pirate, I'm sure he constantly evaluated data and faced it squarely, and ruthlessly. Yet, he knows the truth about Mimi and the incident - and he prefers to believe the lies and keeps throwing it in her face? I just find the story so out of character of his former life, to his current life. I got so fed up, I skipped all their verbal dialogues and just read the action parts. If Ms.Bell had not drawn me into the action, I would not be wanting to buy the rest of the series. Except, I can't logically convince myself to spend $7.99 on the series bundle - knowing that I will be doing a lot of skipping of pages.Product details

I love this author. She has the ability to suck me in and I can't put her books down. This book didn't disappoint.
Typical Bell story. Nice action and I tend to like a good space opera with interesting alien ruins. Hurt by the shallow love story. Both characters have interesting back stories, but the back and fore nice vs. mean is so juvenile.
OCB has written a novel about a war between humans and machines. The War has been going on for two centuries with no end in sight. Humans have slowly gained a foothold, but the foothold is tenuous. This is an excellent read for the genre.....ER
All of this author's sci-fi books are fast paced, counter intuitive (keeps you guessing) - capture the imagination & keep it captured!
This entire series was amazing! So well written, you feel the gradual understanding of who each character is, was, and who they will become. I really appreciate the style of sci-fi story telling that Odette C. Bell has managed to maintain. A plain Jane has been my favorite series for a while now and I recommend it to all my friends young and old. Not one of them has been disappointed! This will definitely be another to recommend. I look forward to reading more keep them coming Odette!
I was disappointed with how quickly the emotions take control of reasoning rather than the other way around. I was a little confused and disappointed that sex had occurred so soon when nothing had really developed between the superficial characters. I liked the premise of the novel, but not really the lack of character development.
I enjoyed reading a couple of Ms. Bell's "firsts" in series, so I went ahead and purchased more of her books. I have burned out on same ol'-same ol'. Every story line seems the same. While I enjoy the fresh voice of Ms. Bell's writing, it doesn't stay fresh by the time one has read the 6th book - sorry, sequel - that basically reads and unfolds the same. The only real change has been the characters' names.
I will keep these books in my library for reading in down time between doctors visits and hospital stays.
